| The Top End Division of General Practice (TEDGP) is a professional network of general practitioners working in the primary health care field. It offers associate membership for medical practitioners not working in a general practice environment and for allied health professionals seeking involvement with the Division. It conducts programs and coordinates projects to encourage GP involvement in improving health and health care systems in the community.
Services provided for members and the community also include GP and multi-discipline seminars, community education, and GP representation on planning and advisory committees. A weekly fax bulletin and a monthly newsletter keep members informed.
The TEDGP mission statement is "General Practitioners working with the community towards better health for people of the Top End."
The Division aims to:
- assist in achieving better health outcomes in the top end through the provision of quality general practice and effective teamwork.
- improve communication among GPs and between GPs, Federal, Territory and Local Governments, other health professionals and the community.
- as the principal support group for general practice in the Top End, provide a focus for the professional life of general practitioners.
- co-operate in the development of continuing medical education programs, locum and other GP support services, providing programs covering infrastructure, health management, practice support, communication and integration.
