Type 2 Diabetes Risk Evaluation Item 713 (updated 10 July 2008)
The Type 2 Diabetes Risk Evaluation (MBS Items 713) was released on 1 July 2008 as part of the 'COAG - reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes' initiative to address the significant growth in type 2 diabetes in Australia. This MBS item enables GPs to review patients aged 40 to 49 years (inclusive) who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes and instigate early interventions to assist in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes Mellitus Cycle of Care
At a minimum the Diabetes Cycle of Care must include:

Diabetes Australia
The purpose of Diabetes Australia is to minimise the impact of diabetes. The national company, Diabetes Australia Ltd., exists to assist member organisations in achieving this purpose.
The mission of Diabetes Australia Ltd. is to facilitate, and where appropriate, co-ordinate the Diabetes Australia movement's achievements of its key strategic directions and to advocate for people with diabetes where a national outcome is sought.
Diabetes Australia ~ NSW was established in 1937 as a voluntary support group. Today it is a part of a federation of twelve organisations ~ medical, education and scientific, research and community based ~ coordinated and facilitated through the national office in Canberra.
The Australian Diabetes Society (ADS) is a society for research, medical practice and education in Diabetes Mellitus. Also scholarships and travel assistance are awarded, the latter for younger members to present at ADS and other international meetings.
