Dr David Rockman MB, CHB, DMRD (Lond)

I am a general practitioner and former radiologist practicing in general medicine and occupational health in the CBD for the past 30 years.

I have been involved as a Board Director with ESDGP since its inception. I have had several positions as a Board Director including secretary, sponsorship co ordinator, post graduate education to general practitioners, vice chair and treasurer.

I have been involved closely with the members of ESDGP particularly in relationship to convening the meetings held at St Vincent’s and Sydney Hospitals. My relationship to the members is close and it is vitally important to receive comments, advice, evaluation sheets in relationship to our services provided to our members.

I feel as a Board Director that it is essential for us to provide these services and many more including mental health, ante natal shared care programs, immunization, liaison with public and private hospitals - St Vincent’s, Sydney and Prince of Wales Hospitals and feedback from general practitioners who refer to these hospitals, association with our para medical fraternity eg pharmacists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, psychologists, in providing practical information and knowledge to our members and subsequently benefiting their patients.

I feel that our Board of Directors provide mechanisms for essential services transmitted to our members and subsequent improved management for our patients.

I have been a GP for over 30 years previously in Drummoyne and now at Macquarie Street, Sydney.

In November 2006, I joined the ESDGP board. Fellow board members are supportive and have been good mentors to me. I hope I had added value to the Board and focused on what ESDGP stands for the members.

In the past, I served on the Board of the Central Sydney Division of GP as the inaugural Chair. I was on the CSDGP board for 5 years from 2000. I was on the Management Committee of the Australian Chinese Medical Association for 9 years, 3 years as President.

Currently, I am on the Management Committee of the Doctors Health Advisory Service and as the Chair of ACMA Charitable Trust. From time to time, I assist the NSW Medical Board with clinical audits, adjudicate in Professional Services Review Committee and conduct practice accreditation survey.

I have gained a good mix of organisational skills and experience from all these roles.

I would like to bring to the Board my commitment and passion for innovative services and support for members and their practices.
